Job Title: Import & Export Team Leader

Location: Surrey, United Kingdom

Salary: £40k-£44K


We are seeking an experienced Import & Export Team Leader to manage the end-to-end flow of goods in and out of the UK and handling all necessary documentation to facilitate the smooth movement of goods.


Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing customer orders.
  • Issue export documentation in compliance with destination country regulations.
  • Maintain export trackers for up-to-date and accurate records.
  • Ensure import declarations are processed accurately
  • Manage data flow on the e-customs clearance platforms
  • Keep import trackers accurate and current.


Additional Duties:

  • Lead and support team development
  • Provide customs support for various UK location sites for imported goods and capital equipment and resolve any customs issues with HMRC.
  • Manage vendor contracts with freight forwarders, customs brokers, hauliers, and other third parties to maintain SLAs and cost agreements.
  • Prepare data for annual audits and conduct weekly and monthly audits to monitor process status.
  • Drive continuous improvement across all import/export processes, focusing on efficiency and minimizing manual tasks.


Essential Skills

  • Team management experience needed
  • Solid background in shipping, exports, freight forwarding, or customs.
  • Proficient in handling export/import documentation for EU and non-EU countries.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, commodity codes, export regulations, and trade compliance.
  • Excellent data accuracy, numeracy, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting customs entries.
