Job Description: Building Control Surveyor

Location: Guildhall

Hybrid

5 days per week (3 in-office 2 remote)


Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be committed to providing high levels of customer service and will actively promote and market the District Surveyors Office.



Key Responsibilities that you will undertake during your course of working as a group building control surveyor:


  • Supervise and oversee the work of Class 1 & 2 RBI’s within the team, assisting with complex projects as needed.
  • Participate in meetings with developers, architects, and designers to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations 2010 throughout all stages of building design and construction.
  • Vet plans, details, reports, calculations, and other submitted documentation for compliance with the Building Regulations, drafting consents/approvals, letters, and emails as necessary.
  • Conduct site inspections of ongoing works to verify compliance with the Building Regulations, informing the contractor or client of any deficiencies requiring further action.
  • Apply well-developed knowledge in a specialist field such as fire or structural engineering, including fire precautions, fire risk assessment, and cladding systems.



Key Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent in Building Control, Building Surveying, or a related field.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB) is highly desirable.
  • Significant experience in a building control environment, including experience with both large, complex, and non-complex projects.
  • Expertise in a specialist area such as fire safety or structural engineering is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and related legislation.
  • Proficiency in using electronic operating systems for record-keeping and time management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise and guide junior team members effectively.
