Working within defined budgets and timelines, the Senior Grid Connections Manager will implement systematic tracking and reporting using established project management tools.

The role demands a strong background in grid connection projects, including minimizing delays, and requires a solid understanding of commercial, legal, technical, and construction aspects necessary to deliver high-value grid connections for energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize health and safety in all decisions, adhering to the “Everyone Safe Always” principle.
  • Line manage Grid Project Managers and mentor junior team members, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and tracked systematically.
  • Conduct critical evaluations of grid connection offers to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Lead technical discussions with DNOs, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), Designers, Development Project Managers, EPC teams, and legal counsel.
  • Coordinate with Development Project Managers to ensure completion of necessary connection surveys.
  • Identify requirements for grid cable routes.
  • Review and approve commercially and technically feasible communication systems with the DNO.
  • Collaborate with project teams to explore potential cost-saving opportunities within the grid offer.
  • Arrange electricity meters and secure MPANs and import agreements for new connections.
  • Oversee the facilitation of Joint Operating Agreements for new connections.
  • Maintain accurate records of grid connection status for each site, tracking progress and connection specifications.
  • Ensure project milestones are aligned with grid offer requirements.
  • Organize regular update meetings with DNO and Development Project Managers.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes, ensuring action plans are approved.
  • Identify and facilitate Low Voltage (LV) and telephone connection needs for grid connections.
  • Collaborate with ICPs to ensure DNO requirements are met.

Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in developing grid connections, preferably within energy storage or renewable energy sectors.
  • Self-driven with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a collaborative mindset and effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work within a team and maintain clear and proactive communication.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
  • Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High accuracy and attention to deadlines.
  • Valid driving license.

This role offers an opportunity for a motivated individual to make a significant impact on the development of renewable energy projects, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
