My client a leading PE backed organisation within the recreation industry is seeking a Data Engineer with a background in data engineering and database administration.
Within the role, you will interact with a range of stakeholders across key departments of the different business units. From sales to procurement, operations, and finance, you will work on various projects that require collaboration and efficient cross-department communication.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in using Snowflake language, build direct queries to Power BI with a good understanding of data management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain Snowflake data warehouse solutions.
- Design, implement, and optimize data models within Snowflake to support various analytical and reporting needs.
- Write complex queries to extract, transform, and load data from disparate sources into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions that meet business needs.
- Work closely with the Power BI specialist to create and optimize Power BI direct queries to provide interactive and insightful visualizations for stakeholders.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through validation processes, data cleansing, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Work closely with the IT team to establish connections between systems using ELT processes and APIs like Jitterbit.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data engineering, recommending, and implementing improvements as necessary.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in data engineering and database administration.
- Proficiency in cloud data warehouse platforms particularly in Snowflake (administration and language).
- Strong understanding of databases, data warehousing concepts, and ETL processes.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases and optimization techniques, preferably MS SQL and BI Tools (SSRS, SSIS, SSDT).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
- Effective communication in English (speaking and writing) and teamwork abilities.
- Self-motivated and proactive approach to tackling challenges and driving results.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
