Our client, a prestigious top - tier barristers’ chambers based near Fleet Street is looking for an experienced Fees Clerk. This position will work closely with the Finance team to ensure the prompt collection of barristers’ debt and will provide financial and administrative support to the Head of Finance.

As a Fees Clerk your core duties will include:

  • Ensuring invoices, fee notes, reminders, receipts, VAT invoices and any other finance correspondence are issued and sent to Chambers’ instructing solicitors in a timely manner
  • Proactively liaising with instructing solicitors for outstanding fees owed to Counsel
  • Aged debt reporting and escalating any problematic accounts
  • Billing of legally aided fees including submission of bills/payment on account applications on the CCMS
  • Managing the centralised Chambers’ BACS bank account, including ensuring that cheques are banked daily and payments are transferred to the barristers’ personal bank accounts
  • Entering cheques and BACS payments in the LEX diary management system
  • Sending fees received correspondence
  • Assisting the team and the Head of Finance with ad hoc tasks

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Experience in the above duties and be proficient using LEX
  • A clear understanding of legally aided billing and experience of the CCMS
  • A calm, patient and flexible attitude, and the ability to work independently
