We have an exciting opportunity for a Synthetic Organic Chemist, qualified to PhD level or with equivalent experience, to join our Laboratory team to produce chemicals for our stock and bespoke products for our customers.


Summary of role:


Developing new synthetic routes and technologies to make new compounds and quickly scaling these up to 100’s of grams or kg quantities. You need to have a good technical and working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry, along with a proven track record of delivery, to ensure that production of chemicals is carried out efficiently and safely.


Core Responsibilities


· Maintain levels of production meeting the Company standards in small scale manufacturing

· Research and develop synthetic methods leading to the production of functionalised organic intermediates

· Project manage each production job

· Carry out risk assessments in accordance with COSHH regulations

· Perform, collect and interpret analytical data (HPLC/GC/NMR/MS)

· Prepare fully detailed and comprehensive reports on all projects


Qualifications, experience, skills & competencies:


· PhD or equivalent experience, with a good technical and working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and a proven track record of delivery

· Experience in using and analysing GC and HPLC data

· Results oriented, with the ability to manage own performance

· Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team

· Able to use analytical thinking to solve problems

· Excellent communication skills
