Our client is on a quest to be the world’s most proactive bank. They improve lives by providing better clarity, intelligence and technology to empower every individual in making the smartest financial decisions.


The founding team is in place, and they have launched with a fully functional App. Starting out with a current account and credit card, they will be broadening their portfolio soon with the foundations in place for a positive, supportive and thoughtful new bank.


As Finance Business Partner (FBP), you will be responsible for cost control, forecasting and insights that will support the business to make the right tactical and strategic decisions for one of the UK’s newest FinTech lenders. Our FBP enters at an incredible time for the business; we have our FCA license, a fully functioning app and with funding secured, a compelling and realistic plan of action.


We have a strong finance team but want to bolster the team further to enable the team to thrive. We have very ambitious business goals and you will be a crucial part of the team to help achieve these. This is a multifaceted role; you will have both an eye for detail and be business minded. As the business expands further, your role may morph, but there is enough to keep you busy for now


Our finance team is based in London, and you will be joining as we grow the team and talent base. Due to the nature of the team and business, the expectation is this role will be office based (at least 4 days a week).


What will you be doing as the Finance Business Partner?


  • Lead the effort in controlling our cost base, identifying and executing on opportunities to deliver shareholder value and drive efficiencies.
  • Engage across the business to support supplier contract negotiations, ensuring agreements align to our operating plans and forecasts.
  • Take overall responsibility for business forecasting.
  • Coordinate and lead budgeting cycles.
  • Develop the internal lending product and profitability models.
  • Support continuous improvement across finance with a focus on automation in everything we do.
  • Working with the wider finance, data & analytics teams to ensure our real-time view of financials are accurate.


What are we looking for in you as the Finance Business Partner?


  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with significant business partnering experience in a lending environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a keen eye for details and the bigger picture.
  • Experience in regulated financial services is essential, ideally UK Retail Banking.
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to explain and present financials and business cases in a clear and logical way.
  • Comfortable presenting to, and be challenged by, senior leadership including ExCo.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high growth business and the challenges that presents.
  • Be inquisitive and unafraid to challenge.
  • Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information or a degree of ambiguity.
  • Advanced Excel skills. Working SQL knowledge is a bonus.
  • Finally, this role requires someone to be pragmatic.
