About the Pub

This multi-award winning pub is on the A6 towards the easterly end Disley. Although now painted white it was the 'red house' that gave the name to the adjacent road. The establishment offers real ales, good quality food and a traditional pub ambience. The pub has a very strong cask ale market with a wide range of beers being sold. It has a reputation for offering quality pub food right to the evening, cooked fresh each day. Stonegate Pub Partners are seeking an enthusiastic operator to take this pub to the next level offering great food and pleasant surroundings.

Traditionally decorated throughout, the pub features a one bar and two room operation. The snug is very cosy and inviting, featuring comfortable sofas and a fireplace. The dining and lounge area contains loose tables and chairs and is a pleasant space to relax while debating what to have from the menu. In total the property can seat 110 people. Easily accessible, one long bar comprising nine cask ale pumps and many other keg taps. Optics and shelving units sits behind the bar and offer ample space to place wines and spirits. A well-equipped trade kitchen is sufficient to support a traditional and Sunday lunch menu.

To the front, there are a number of picnic benches giving great kerb appeal to passers-by. There is a car park at the rear with space for eight vehicles.

Regional Manager's Thoughts

The White Lion attracts a regular trade of customers that really appreciate the quality of the food and drink on offer. The pub is in good condition and has recently had new lighting and new fencing installed collectively, adding to the external image. Benefiting from a new housing development that is still growing, situated a few hundred yards behind the property, the business has great potential. This is a great opportunity to drive sales forward from an established base. The new publican would look to develop rapport with the local community and offer a great traditional menu. An entertainment programme to attract local customers and look at requirements to show live sport.

Surrounding Area

Disley is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East, on the edge of the Peak District in the Goyt Valley south of Stockport, close to the county boundary with Derbyshire at New Mills. Lyme Park is nearby and the hall was used by the BBC as a setting in its adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The White Lion sits on the main A6 road which runs through the town, south of Stockport.
