Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Technician

Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and versatile Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation, cleanliness, and maintenance of our facilities and grounds. This role is ideal for a hands-on individual with a range of practical skills who can take on a variety of responsibilities, from groundskeeping to general maintenance tasks.
**Note that this position will be on an initial 6 month contract with the view to going permanent**
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Maintenance:
- Perform general repairs and small DIY tasks throughout the facility.
- Monitor the condition of the property and address or arrange repairs when needed.
- Perform routine facility inspections to identify areas for enhancement or maintenance.
- Assist with facility improvement projects such as painting, furniture assembly, and minor upgrades.
- Handle mail distribution and related duties.
Grounds Maintenance:
- Maintain outdoor areas, including yard work, keeping weeds under control, and general upkeep of the grounds.
- Perform car park line painting and ensure the car park is kept clean and tidy.
- Handle exterior window cleaning as required.
General Cleaning & Labour:
- Clean and maintain the workshop and office areas to ensure a tidy and organised working environment.
- Assist with various labour tasks, including moving equipment and supplies as needed.
- Take on occasional office cleaning tasks to maintain a pleasant workspace.
Driving & Equipment Operation:
- Perform general driving duties, including the collection and delivery of supplies.
- Safely operate a company vehicle (forklift operation may be required).
- Wash and maintain company vehicles to ensure they are in top condition.
Other Duties:
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks and odd jobs as they arise.
- Take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and contribute to the continuous improvement of the facility.
- Work closely with the team to ensure that the facility operates efficiently and safely.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Practical experience in a similar role (janitor, maintenance, or groundskeeping).
- Basic knowledge of repair, maintenance, and cleaning procedures.
- Valid driving license (forklift license is a plus but not essential).
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Ability to handle physical labour tasks.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a skilled trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical work)
- Forklift certification or experience with similar equipment.
