The Role of Business Development Manager:

  • Covers: Leicester, Coventry, Birmingham, Worcester, Northampton, Peterborough, Spalding, Derby.
  • As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for selling leading brands such as Miracle-Gro, Levington, Roundup and Weedol within key garden care categories.
  • You will deliver sales growth through delivery of KPIs and, with going completely Peat Free for 2025, there has never been a more exciting time to have these vital conversations in many customers’ most important category


Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Build fantastic relationships with your customers’ Buyers, Managers and in-store staff that will enable persuasive business conversations.
  • Create a territory specific plan that delivers targeted results across all KPIs.
  • Negotiate with high profile customers to secure exclusive listings.
  • Monitor and review sales performance – implementing recovery plans as appropriate.
  • Fully utilise CRM system to ensure comprehensive documentation of sales activity.
  • Support national / regional sales strategies and promotions.
  • Work with colleagues to improve best practice.


Candidate Profile: Business Development Manager

  • Living in the West Midlands or East Midlands, we are looking for an experienced Sales Representative from a garden products supplier or another leading non-food consumer goods business.
  • Comprehensive training will be provided but a proven ability to sell to independent retailers is important.


We Are Also Looking For:

  • A natural people-person who builds relationships easily and is able to influence change.
  • A disciplined self-starter, results driven and committed to achieving career recognition.
  • A skilled planner with the ability to lead by example and project a professional image.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills, a positive outlook and a clear focus on results.
  • Computer literate in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Clear selling and negotiation skills.
  • Evidence of success in new business and account management sales roles.
