The Role
Mcbains are seeking a Chartered (or soon to be Chartered) Structural Engineer to help lead the delivery of our structural design services across a range of varied and interesting projects. This will be a challenging and exciting role which will be well suited to a highly motivated and organised team player.
Key Responsibilities
· Support development of new client opportunities by supporting bid and business development activities
· Management of project delivery activities with client
· Develop strategies for increasing project profitability through scope management/additional fees and resource allocations
· Preparation of fee estimates and monitoring of expenditure
· Identification and systematic management of risk and change
· Maintaining communications with stakeholders and the project team
· Ensuring compliance with regards to McBains policies and procedures
· Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
· Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Skills & Requirements
· A degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering
· CEng status with chartered or fellow membership of the ICE or IStructE
· A minimum of 4 years post graduate experience working in structural engineering teams
· Proven experience of managing and leading structural engineering teams
· Proven experience of undertaking a client facing role and stakeholder management
· A good understanding of all relevant standards and Codes of Practice and Health and Safety Legislation within the construction industry.
· Good understanding of Modern Methods of Construction and their practical implementation in the construction sector.
· Good understanding of current industry-wide sustainability and Net Zero Carbon targets
· Proven experience of implementing rigorous QC and QA procedures
· Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
· Good time management skills to work across multiple projects and deadlines effectively, often under time pressures
