Forming an integral part of busy account teams delivering campaigns you’ll help solve wide ranging political, regulatory and policy issues for some of the UK’s biggest companies. You will also advise clients in ‘start-up’ businesses who are trying to establish themselves here in the UK. From some of the UK’s most recognisable brands to some of the most dynamic new companies, you will use your significant client experience and understanding of the political environment to help them navigate a rapidly changing environment.
The successful candidate will
- Be an established agency professional who has significant client handling and new business experience
- Have a thorough understanding of the political landscape and the ability to apply that knowledge across a wide range of sectors
- Be able to deliver consistently high-quality written communication
- Have strong organisational and project management skills alongside strong personal skills
- Have an interest in current affairs and a thirst to understand your clients and the sectors in which they operate.
- Have strong, provable track-record in new business development – essential at this level. A specific background in one of the following areas is also desirable: transport, infrastrastructure, energy.
Key responsibilities
- Take an active role in new business activity, including seeking out new leads, drafting proposals and taking part in new business pitches
- Develop public affairs and communications campaigns to deliver tangible change; acting as day-to-day lead on project implementation
- Manage a range of client accounts and relationships
- Provide timely and insightful advice across the business and to clients
- Map stakeholders across Westminster and Whitehall, and identify avenues for engagement
- Support and deliver impactful media engagement, liaison and integrated digital campaigns
- Effective management and mentorship to help team members reach their full potential.
About you
- Genuine interest in the UK political system and understanding of the interaction between the politics, media and businesses
- Experience of managing and delivering projects on time and on budget
- Commercial acumen and have an awareness of the environment in which Lexington operates
- Proven people management skills
Pay range and compensation package
The salary will be within the usual range for someone with circa 9y-10 years' industry experience. In addition benefits include an annual performance related bonus, private health insurance, personal development grant, 2 volunteering days annually, Cycle to Work scheme, enhanced mat/pat leave, half-day birthday leave, regular social events and more.
What else to know about Lexington?
We are proud of our commitments to create shared value for people and planet, which include:
Fostering an Inclusive Culture
Work is a huge part of our lives. That’s why at Lexington we pride ourselves on our inclusive culture, one based on collaboration, purpose and professional development at every level. Lexington has an established training scheme tailored to different job levels and roles, which covers leadership skills, people management, wellbeing and resilience. We became a signatory to the Time to Change mental health pledge in 2020 and have since set up a wellbeing network, which promotes employee health and wellbeing through a variety of initiatives. To drive diversity in our business and sector, we partner with the Taylor Bennet Foundation, a charity that exists to encourage ethnic minority graduates to pursue a career in our sector.
Investing in Communities
Our Community working group oversees our pro bono programme, as well as our volunteering initiatives and fundraising activity. Many organisations lack the expertise and resources to achieve the political, media or digital impact that their causes deserve. At Lexington, we commit to providing £160,000 of free advice to charities each year. Over the past year, we have helped fourteen charities with a variety of communications campaigns, including The School for Social Entrepreneurs, The Girl’s Network and Magic Breakfast.
Protecting the Environment
We have joined the UN’s Race to Zero campaign by signing the SME Climate Commitment to halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030, achieve net zero before 2050, and disclose our progress on a yearly basis. Our Environment working group oversees these goals, helping Lexington to take steps to make more sustainable procurement decisions, improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and inspire everyone who works at Lexington to live greener lifestyles.
Applying
At Lexington, we believe in creating an inclusive work environment with a diverse workforce. We will give proper consideration to all qualified applicants without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.
