We are recruiting for the role of Lead Data Architect within the in-house digital product and services department of a groundbreaking public sector entity that's reshaping the way public services are delivered.



As the Lead Data Architect, you will play a critical role in a multidisciplinary team, upholding and implementing the standards and practices established for data architecture. You will collaborate with a community of professionals to provide expert advice on best practices in data modelling, while supporting and guiding other data architects and data professionals. Your role will involve producing data artefacts, ensuring they meet the standards set for the organisation, and working closely with solution architects and other technology colleagues to design solutions that align with our data architecture principles. Additionally, you will partner with Business Analysts and Data Engineers to understand data requirements and constraints, developing data patterns and designs that support the organisation's services effectively.



Responsibilities:

  • Utilise the corporate data architecture (CDM) as the blueprint for the organisation’s Data Research Platform, ensuring the CDA team effectively supports organisational projects.
  • Lead and participate in workshops to develop and support other teams in data architectural roles.
  • Provide data architecture support to various projects and initiatives across the organisation, such as the Golden Thread project.
  • Offer data architecture consultancy and training to services within the organisation as needed.
  • Educate and mentor team members, imparting advanced ontological and data architectural knowledge.
  • Enable project teams and other areas around the business to understand the importance of good data structures and the Corporate Data Model.
  • Support project teams with your expertise in their project deliveries, ensuring success across a wide variety of initiatives within the organisation.





About You


You are an excellent communicator, adept at translating business requirements into data designs. You are comfortable managing stakeholders and their expectations, proactively communicating with them and engaging in challenging discussions within the team or with diverse stakeholders. As a keen data modeller, you can produce relevant data models, including reverse-engineering of live systems. You are a seasoned Data Architect with practitioner-level experience in setting and developing data standards and structures. You are well-versed in designing appropriate metadata repositories and can coordinate the team to investigate problems, implement solutions, and take preventive measures.


Key Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Data modelling (conceptual & logical)
  • Competent report writing
  • Workshop facilitation
  • Understanding of Taxonomy
  • Understanding of Ontology
  • Familiarisation with the Zachman Framework
  • Proficiency with at least one EA tool
  • 2nd Class Degree or equivalent in a science, linguistic (Eng Lit included), Law, or classical subject (e.g., Latin, Ancient Greek)


Desired Skills

  • Experience and understanding of data virtualisation, with technical exposure to this field, preferably Denodo
  • Experience with Knowledge, Information, and Data management tools
  • Process/business modelling
  • System data architecture
  • TOGAF, Enterprise Data Modelling, Visual Paradigm
