Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Strategist/Analyst to join our dynamic team and drive the commercial planning for our Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) brands across all channels and markets. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that optimise customer Joint Business Plans (JBPs), assortment planning, revenue growth, market P&L analysis, value chain optimisation, and competitive pricing analysis. The ideal candidate will combine analytical rigor with strategic insight to deliver actionable recommendations that enhance profitability and competitive advantage across diverse markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Planning & Strategy Development
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive commercial strategies for CPG brands across multiple channels and markets.
- Work closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to develop joint business plans (JBPs) with key customers that drive growth and align with brand objectives.
- Develop and manage assortment strategies, ensuring product offerings are optimised for different market segments and customer needs.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and new business opportunities across various channels (e.g., retail, e-commerce, wholesale).
2. Revenue Growth & P&L Management
- Analyse and manage market P&Ls, identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to set pricing strategies, promotional plans, and channel-specific growth tactics to meet revenue and margin targets.
- Monitor key financial performance indicators and develop dashboards and reports to track progress against targets and KPIs.
- Ensure that commercial initiatives are aligned with long-term business objectives and financial targets.
3. Assortment & Product Portfolio Management
- Lead assortment planning and portfolio management efforts across multiple retail and e-commerce channels, ensuring the right products are available to meet customer demand and market conditions.
- Develop insights on category trends, customer preferences, and competitive offerings to drive effective product positioning and assortment decisions.
- Optimise product mix to maximise sales performance, profitability, and brand equity in each channel.
4. Competitive Pricing Analysis & Price-Pack Architecture
- Conduct competitive pricing analysis across key markets and channels, ensuring products are competitively priced to maximise sales and profitability.
- Proficiently evaluate price-pack architecture to ensure the right price tiers, product sizes, and value propositions are in place for each channel and customer segment.
- Continuously monitor and adjust pricing strategies based on competitor pricing, customer feedback, and market conditions, ensuring optimal pricing structures across all product categories.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, and sales teams to ensure that pricing and assortment align with consumer expectations and the competitive landscape.
5. Value Chain & Supply Chain Analysis
- Conduct detailed analysis of the value chain to identify areas for cost savings, operational efficiencies, and margin improvement opportunities.
- Partner with supply chain and operations teams to ensure the smooth execution of commercial plans from production to customer delivery.
- Identify and recommend improvements in product distribution, trade promotions, and supply chain processes to enhance overall performance.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain, to align on goals and ensure effective execution of commercial strategies.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on market data, financial analysis, and customer insights.
- Influence key stakeholders to drive alignment on commercial priorities and initiatives across the organisation.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commercial strategy, sales planning, or business analysis, ideally within the CPG industry.
- Experience working with top CPG brands or consulting firms with a focus on CPG, retail, or consumer markets.
- Proven track record in developing Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and managing customer relationships across various channels (e.g., retail, e-commerce).
- Strong experience in using third-party market intelligence sources (e.g., Nielsen, Kantar, Euromonitor, IRI) to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage e-commerce tools and analytics (e.g., Amazon, Shopify, Google Analytics) to understand online consumer behaviour and optimize sales strategies.
- Proficiency in price-pack architecture and competitive pricing analysis to ensure the right product assortment, pricing tiers, and competitive positioning in each channel and for each customer segment.
- Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesise complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Deep understanding of CPG market dynamics, assortment planning, pricing strategies, and customer behaviour.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Solid understanding of e-commerce strategies and analytics, including data from third-party platforms.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Personal Attributes:
- Strategic thinker with a focus on both short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Strong communicator with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Results-driven, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership.

- OTE is £ 42,000. The base salary will be reviewed once the probation scheme ends (6 months).
