Reporting into the Group Product Director, the role will serve as the day to day technology leader for BCA’s Inspections, Appraisals and Valuations digital products and tools.

Collaborating closely with our commercial and operations teams the Head of Product leads the Product Teams to execute our strategy, delivering the right commercial outcomes and customer benefits.


The Head of Product role is designed to ensure the successful development and delivery of BCA’s Inspections, Appraisals and Valuations products. Working with the existing Product Teams to instil increasingly effective product success. This will also extend into the delivery of the next generation of these products, implementing new digital solutions that will effectively and efficiently deliver against BCA’s ambitions and objectives.


This role is the custodian of the inspections, appraisals and valuations Product Roadmap, and ensures that products and features released are done so securely, robustly and methodically.


Key Responsibilities


Product Strategy


  • Works with commercial leaders and Product Director to lead the development of the short and long term product and digital strategy in alignment with company’s overall strategy and vision to grow the profitability and customer base.
  • Educates business leaders and the wider business on how our products can be utilised to expand and leverage the multi-service automotive value chain.
  • Create a 360-degree landscape of requirements of the all BCA current and future products, services and digital assets by objectively assessing the needs and demands of all internal and external stakeholders. This includes driver, dealers, OEMs, BCA employees and other areas of BCA.
  • Drive the best user experience through our digital platforms, to ensure an efficient and frictionless experience.
  • Work with Commercial and Operations counterparts on the Strategic Direction for our digital products and its integration to the wider BCA ecosystem.
  • Devise and implement the digital/physical touchpoints and crossovers, that enable inspections and appraisals to be efficiently and accurately concluded with minimal human interactions.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Inspection, Appraisals and Valuations Product Roadmap, in consultation and approval with business and commercial owners.


Product Development and Delivery


  • Lead the day-to-day execution of all Inspection, Appraisals and valuations products delivery and development.
  • Champion a discovery-led, agile, product line-based delivery model for the products.
  • Ensure the Product Teams have effective product development and delivery processes.
  • Ensure the Product Teams have the right tools in place to effectively manage their workload and resources; and provide status reporting to the Portfolio Office.
  • Ensure that prioritisation is done effectively and in alignment with BCA’s requirements and ambitions.
  • Coordinating, managing and carefully choreographing rapid and complex product development.
  • Deploy Development processes that focus on stakeholders receiving market-leading, innovative, tested products, which maximise the commercial benefits for BCA and deliver market leading customer experiences.
  • Ensure the successful preparation and implementation of the product quarterly planning.
  • Ensure the products are delivered to the required quality; minimising any disruption to business activities.
  • Secure support and resources, acting as the spokesperson for the inspections appraisals and valuations product team within BCA and to external stakeholders.
  • Manage the budget and ensure investment is done responsibly and in alignment with business priorities.


Staff and Leadership Development


  • Providing line management for all Inspections, Appraisals and Valuations Product Teams.
  • Work to creatively improve the product through leading an inspired product team, extolling innovation, new ways of thinking and customer centric behaviours.
  • Encourages learning from failures and creates a climate of openness to new ways of working, risk, and uncertainty.
  • Developing the Product Teams to the next level of Agile/Product Ways of Working to maximise the efficiency and velocity of product delivery.
  • Work with Finance to create and manage team budget and run the Product Team to this budget.
  • Drive talent selection, development and succession planning for the wider IT department.
  • Ensure all Team members have appropriate Development Plans and follow the BCA Talent Mgmt. processes.


Requirements


  • Hands-on Senior Product Manager/Head of Product, who has led Agile product teams to deliver end-to-end user products and propositions.
  • Relationship skills - ability to develop and sustain positive and co-operative working relationships with a broad variety of company and partner personnel.
  • Excellent team player, able to interact cross-functionally at different levels within the organisation.
  • Able to handle a high degree of complexity.
  • A tenacious approach with the focus and determination to get things done effectively, looking for solutions to overcome difficulties.

Experience


  • Significant relevant experience within a product led environment.
  • Educated to a degree, or similar work experience.
  • Experience managing a multifunctional team.
  • Extensive experience working directly with commercial owners, and have a strong commercial focus.
  • Experience of simultaneously managing different development platforms, apps and products.
  • Deep understanding of software development processes and cycles.
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile product development frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of operating products in the cloud, and or migrating products to the cloud.
  • Extensive experience working directly with customer and external stakeholders.
  • Significant, demonstrable repeat experience of delivering successful products.
  • Demonstrated motivational ability and inspiring leadership.
  • Cultural awareness and emotional intelligence, backed by demonstrable experience working closely with diverse cultures.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and in highly complex environments.
  • Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the automotive sector is desirable.
  • A knowledge of design thinking and lean start-up working practices preferred.
