We’re on the lookout for a passionate Experience Designer to join our high-performing, multi-disciplinary team at a Global Design Agency. You'll be diving into user-centric discovery work, applying agile methodologies, and most importantly, helping us craft services that are genuinely accessible and friction-free.


What you’ll be doing:


You’ll play a key role in making sure our designs are rooted in a deep understanding of the people using them. We work in the public sector, so simplifying complexity and reducing friction for users is critical. This is a full-time contract based in London, UK. It's a hybrid team, but expect to pop into the office at least twice a month – or more if needed.


Key things to know before you apply:


  • Security clearance: Active clearance is a must-have.
  • GDS Experience: You’ve been through a GDS service assessment before and are familiar with the GDS Design System.
  • Stakeholder Management: You’re comfortable working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solo Design Resource: You know what it's like being the solo designer in a cross-functional team.
  • Design Tools: You’re skilled in Figma, Sketch, Axure RP, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Design Systems: You know your way around pattern libraries and design systems – GDS experience would be a big plus.
  • Agile Environment: You’re familiar with how agile teams work.
  • Case Management: Experience with case management or workflow designs is helpful.
  • Web & Mobile: You’ve worked on both, so nothing new here


What you’ll do day-to-day:


Discover:

  • Shape UX strategies for products and services.
  • Lead user-centric research, making sure we understand exactly what users need and expect.
  • Bring your colleagues along on the journey, working cross-functionally to paint a clear picture of user needs and behaviors.
  • Facilitate workshops, align goals, and pull together insights from all disciplines to drive the project forward.
  • Turn research findings into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Present insights and research outcomes to key stakeholders.

Deliver:

  • Craft wireframes, flows, and storyboards to bring your solutions to life for the team.
  • Add the right visual touches or components to wireframes, and collaborate with our professional communities when needed.
  • Prototype at various levels of fidelity and use these for testing with clients and users.
  • Validate your designs with user testing and iterate based on feedback.
  • Work closely with development teams, making sure solutions are built exactly how we envisioned them.

Guide:

  • Provide guidance on the GDS Design System to the team.
  • Help the team prep for service assessments and represent our work when it goes through review.
