IT Infrastructure Support Technician

Location: Redhill

Our client, a leading organisation in the IT industry, is seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Support Technician to join their team. As an IT Infrastructure Support Technician, you will provide day-to-day hands-on technical support on the corporate and customer-managed IT infrastructure and projects. Working as part of the IT team, you will deliver a quality 24/7 service to internal users, as well as customer gateways, servers, and laptops.

Key Tasks:

• Build laptops and PC's according to internal and customer specifications, ensuring compliance with IT security policies and accreditation standards.
• Ensure the smooth running and patching of the desktop environment, monitoring usage and performance to maintain efficiency.
• Manage and support onsite A/V equipment, including video conferencing and projectors.
• Follow departmental change control process and procedures.
• Assist with the administration of customer IT equipment and networks.
• Provide support to NSSLGlobal users, resolving issues and keeping users informed of progress.
• Collaborate with external suppliers for problem resolution when necessary.
• Be part of the 24/7 on-call IT rota, responding to emergencies and providing support to corporate and customer networks.

Support the IT Infrastructure Engineers in providing:

• Support for the IT Hosting Infrastructure, including storage, virtual environments, email, and backups.
• Support for the IT Security Infrastructure, including antivirus, update/patch management, and web filtering.
• Support for telephony equipment and servers, including installation of telephones.
• Support for the remote working environment, including VPNs and RDP.

Asset Management Responsibilities:

• Maintain an inventory of user assets and update changes as necessary.
• Perform regular auditing of the asset register.
• Maintain software compliance for all desktop operating systems, applications, and client licences.

Qualifications:

• HND/Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline OR at least 5 years of applicable experience in a demanding environment within a busy 100+ user network.
• Broad range of technical skills in IT hardware and business applications.
• Sound technical knowledge of core Microsoft Windows 10/11 desktop environments.
• Sound technical knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022 administration.
• Good understanding of IT Security.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange and Email services.
• Previous experience in 1st/2nd line support roles.
• Ability to achieve Security Clearance (SC/DV) is required.

Desirable Skills:

• Sound technical knowledge of Windows Group Policies and Active Directory.
• Sound technical knowledge of Endpoint Central, McAfee/Trellix Security, WebMarshal, Veeam.
• Sound technical knowledge of Virtual Environments (VMware).
• Experience with administering and supporting Mitel phone systems.
• Relevant Microsoft qualifications.
• Experience with administering/supporting Blackberry UEM and mobile device management (MDM).
