Job Title – Junior Sales Executive (Inside Sales)


Reporting to: Marketing Team Lead and Sales Team Lead


Location: Full-time role based at our Orpington, UK office. There will be the option of up to two days per week remote working (at line manager’s discretion) following completion of probation period.


About the role: the Sales Executive (Inside Sales) role is being created to standardise our approach to inbound enquiries from our website, third-party marketing, trade fair, and other marketing-led channels. The role will take enquiries from initial contact through to completion of a sale and remain in contact with the customer post-sale to maximise opportunities for upselling from our range of add-on and consumable products. The role will also have a key place in establishing the latest trends in purchasing habits, new product requirements, and emergent growth sectors.


Priority #1 for this role is to ensure that all team members including self are not injured at work.

Priority #2 is to provide end-end product and technical support to Specac’s customers for our existing Product portfolio to meet or exceed sales targets set by the business. This involves strategizing, prospecting, and closing deals to generate revenue.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To handle inquiries from End Users, Universities, & Dealers providing advice on product selection and ownership of such opportunities through to order receipt and payment.
  • Qualify all inbound enquiries to website, sales inbox, or trade shows.
  • Call upon support from marketing, customer services, or product specialists to satisfy customer enquiries.
  • Establish Budget, Timeline, and Authority for any Opportunities arising.
  • Issue quotations, follow-up according to team guidelines, and close Opportunities as lost/won as appropriate.
  • Work with the customer service team as needed to process and complete Orders.
  • Promote relevant upsells, cross-sells, or consumables to recently purchased customers.
  • Seek reviews, case-studies, and testimonials from customers with noteworthy applications.
  • Report on customer trends (new applications, common requests and customer feedback)
  • Undertake lead generation activities as advised by line manager(s).
  • To report monthly on the performance of sales across assigned customer base relative to target. Where performance is below target, report on actions and initiatives to recover performance.
  • To pro-actively manage Specac’s CRM system for assigned customer base to ensure that it is constantly up to date.
  • To seek opportunities for personal and professional growth to enhance performance.
  • To identify and report hazards in the workplace.


About you:

  • Ideally from a technical, scientific, or engineering background.
  • Proactive and organised.
  • Experienced with CRM systems and can demonstrate effective use of reminders, notes, and activities to follow-up and close sales.
  • Comfortable interacting with customers by phone, email, and video call.
  • Strong motivation and self-discipline to work proactively and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in customer focused environment
  • Ability to use own initiative to achieve business results.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
