1. Purpose


This is an excellent opportunity for a junior actuarial candidate to gain broad experience within an established and training-focused actuarial team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Deputy Chief Actuary and will assist in all aspects of actuarial work (reserving, capital modelling, pricing and portfolio management) for LSL Syndicates 2010 and 3010 as required.


Study support will be provided to a successful candidate who wishes to pursue the actuarial exams. We also welcome applications from candidates who have chosen not to sit the actuarial exams.


2. Specific Responsibilities


• Extracting data and updating spreadsheets and other processes used by the reserving team

• Assist in the production of output required for Lloyd’s regulatory returns

• Assist with collection of relevant input data and parameters for use in the capital model

• Provide relevant capital modelling analysis and output for review to other team members

• Assist in the development, maintenance, and operation of the capital model

• Assist in the building of pricing models onto a new platform

• Other general assistance to the reserving, capital modelling and pricing teams as required

• Ad hoc assistance to support portfolio management activities as required


3. Essential Skills & Requirements


Essential


• Minimum of a second class degree in a mathematical or science based subject as well as good ‘A’ Levels (or equivalent) including at least one mathematical subject

• Good IT skills, in particular MS Office

• Excellent attention to detail

• Good written and verbal communication skills


Desirable


• Some knowledge of SQL and/or Power BI

• Some prior experience of actuarial work and/or the insurance industry would be advantageous, but is not a prerequisite for the role
