Our client is recruiting for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Devon


What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive operational excellence by developing efficient manufacturing processes and leading cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to meet business and financial goals while ensuring compliance with UK, European regulations, and customer standards.
  • Champion lean manufacturing practices to eliminate waste, improve quality, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead root cause analyses, failure investigations, and continuous improvement events to enhance performance.
  • Implement Six Sigma strategies to reduce variation and boost process reliability.
  • Support new product development with design for manufacturing (DFM) and value engineering principles.
  • Recommend and manage capital investments for emerging technologies.
  • Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Develop and audit process documentation to address quality and production challenges.
  • Ensure all functional KPIs are achieved through robust planning and execution.


What we’re looking for:

  • Strong grasp of engineering design, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving tools (8D, root cause analysis, FMEA) and statistical techniques (SPC, DOE, Gage R&R).
  • Familiarity with ProLaunch, CAD/CAM software, and industry-specific quality standards (ISO9001, AS9100).
  • Expertise in manufacturing techniques like metal cutting, injection molding, welding, and tool design.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage supplier/customer interfaces.
  • Experience in coaching and performance management.
