We are excited to announce that we have a superb opportunity to join Cumming Europe Ltd, as part of Cumming Group, in the role of Payroll Clerk in our Cardiff Office.


The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with UK laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.


This role will report directly to the Payroll Manager and will involve managing three distinct payroll schemes.


Workday payroll experience is required.


The role of a Payroll Clerk includes the following responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare and process monthly payroll for employees across multiple payroll schemes, including calculating wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime.
  • Managing pension scheme relationships and pension reporting for multiple schemes.
  • Maintain and update payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data for each payroll scheme.
  • Ensure all employee records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll regulations, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension auto-enrolment across all payroll schemes.
  • Stay informed on changes to laws and regulations affecting payroll.
  • Generate and distribute specific payroll reports to Finance, HR & Management, including earnings, tax, and deduction summaries for each payroll scheme.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end reports, including P60 & P11d forms.
  • Address and resolve any payroll-related issues or discrepancies in a timely manner, ensuring smooth operation across all payroll schemes.
  • Liaise with employees regarding payroll-related inquiries.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to all employees.
  • Liaise with Management as required.
  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits by providing necessary documentation and information for each payroll scheme.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Workday payroll experience is required.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • GCSEs or equivalent. A-Level or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing or related accounting experience.
  • Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) certification is a plus.
