Medlock Partners are seeking a HR Business Partner to join the HR team for a leading manufacturing business based in Middleton. The successful person will be working as a HR Business Partner currently or be ready to take this step in their career, passionate about partnering with stakeholders and supporting the Head of HR in driving the People Agenda.


You will be responsible for supporting the Head of HR and key stakeholders in building an outstanding HR capability ensuring that policies are working for people, coaching line managers and supporting the development of the recruitment processes.


Key responsibilities of the HR Business Partner:


  • Assist the Head of HR in delivering the people plan.
  • Partner with site leaders to drive improvements and offer top-tier employee lifecycle services.
  • Support and coach line managers in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage HR projects and business changes.
  • Develop and standardise HR processes, systems, and databases for ongoing improvements.
  • Support recruitment processes from attraction to offer, assisting the HR administrator as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster a connected, empowered, and inclusive work environment.
  • Support initiatives to enhance employee engagement and wellbeing.
  • Embed company values and roll out employee surveys, developing action plans based on feedback.
  • Handle HR queries and provide pragmatic advice in line with legislation and policies.
  • Advise managers on grievances, disciplinaries, and performance issues, minimising risk.
  • Liaise with Trade Unions when required.
  • Highlight absenteeism trends and manage sickness absence cases, working with Occupational Health.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and plan ongoing training for employees.
  • Ensure performance issues are managed and reviews are timely.
  • Manage the apprenticeship programme and support HR training for managers.
  • Identify and develop talent, creating career progression opportunities.


Key requirements for the HR Business Partner:


  • CIPD Level 5 (Desirable)
  • Proven relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in HR project implementation.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Previous experience of a HR Business Partner with Operational and Strategic experience gained within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with a blue- and white-collar workforce would be highly advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of employment law and managing employee relations
  • Driving licence is essential.
