SEN Teaching Assistant Role – Team Teach

Location: Sheffield

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Position: Teaching Assistant (Team Teach Trained)

Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications

Start Date: September 2024

Contract Type: Full-Time/Part Time Term-Time Only


Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team in Sheffield. This role is ideal for a candidate who is Team Teach trained and has a passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the classroom teacher in managing pupil behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Engage with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to ensure they reach their full potential.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources.
  • Support students during break times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Implement Team Teach strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively and ensure a safe classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the holistic development of students.

Requirements:

  • Team Teach training and certification is essential.
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary or secondary school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with SEN.
  • First Aid certification is an advantage.
