Purpose of the role


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time HR Advisor to join our team on a fixed-term contract for 7-8 months, with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll, writing, updating, and publishing HR policies, and reviewing, updating, and implementing new processes to ensure we are following best practices.

This role also involves handling any ad hoc HR projects that arise. We offer flexible working hours to suit your childcare or other commitments.


Key Responsibilities


Payroll Management:

  • Process payroll accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate with our payroll provider to ensure all updates are implemented.
  • Review and approve payslips and payroll reports.
  • Maintain payroll records and handle any payroll-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding payroll.


Policy Development and Management:

  • Write, update, and publish HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all policies are up-to-date and comply with current legislation.
  • Communicate policy changes to all employees effectively.


Process Improvement:

  • Review current HR processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement new HR processes and ensure they align with best practices.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of new processes and adjust as needed.


Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Stay informed about industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Ensure all HR activities comply with legal standards and company policies.
  • Advise management on HR best practices and compliance issues.


Ad Hoc HR Projects:

  • Handle various HR projects as needed to support the HR department and the organisation.


Qualifications:

  • Level 5 CIPD qualification is essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, with a focus on payroll and policy management.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Working Hours:

This is a part-time position on a fixed-term contract for 7-8 months (maternity cover), with the potential for extension. We offer flexible working hours to accommodate your childcare or other commitments.
