Position: People & Culture Project Manager


Location: Remote



Role Overview


The purpose of this role is to manage the delivery of multiple projects and initiatives which align the BDO People & Culture strategy, with the overall objective of delivering a superior talent experience that is in line with the expected level set at BDO.

The Project Manager performs a significant role within BDO and will be working directly with multiple diverse stakeholders including HR leaders and professionals at BDO member firms, supplier and vendor partners, business partners and sponsors to manage project timelines, and ensuring that all project goals are met within the specified constraints.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of a project or program of work encompassing stakeholder management, change management, project budgeting, planning, managing, monitoring, reporting and implementation.

The Project Manager has accountability in managing the projects to ensure completion within defined schedules and budgets, in accordance with business requirements, and to prevailing information systems, security, privacy & quality standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities


Working very closely with the Global Head of People and Culture, and the Senior Manager of People and Culture, the Project Manager will:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop project plans, define project scope, goals, and deliverables with project Sponsor, and manage the project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with global HR leaders and HR teams, senior management, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for people and culture projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder communication and expectations for the life of the program or project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage key firm relationships and support firms through their adoption and utilisation of the project delivery solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Continue to develop the project management capability within BDO by collaborating with other staff, sharing learnings, assisting others, and generally encouraging the appropriate use of project management techniques by others.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, manage project budgets, and ensure that project teams have the necessary tools and support. Establishing, managing, and reporting on project budget. Analysing budget variances and recommending appropriate action.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and any issues that arise.
  • Communication: Development and management of project plans, including progress reviews and milestone achievement, ensuring that all reports are completed on a timely basis for reporting and tracking purposes.
  • Communication: Preparation of project documentation including governance reports, project status reports, presentations, and agendas.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management and HR.
  • Change Management: Anticipate, plan and engage on the change management requirements for each project.
  • Work with the Global Head of P&C to draft the annual roadmap based on P&C requirements, P&C strategic direction, and priorities.



Qualifications and Experience



  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated significant experience in P&C project management and related project processes, project methodologies, project governance and stakeholder management.
  • Technical qualifications in a Project Management discipline (
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Change Management Practitioner certification is an asset (Prosci, CCMP or other)
  • Effectively demonstrates leadership, teamwork, problem solving, initiative and integrity, with experience of driving the best from teams located in multiple locations and time zones.
  • Ability to understand and appreciate diverse perspectives and foster an inclusive work environment
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with business stakeholders to clarify their business requirements and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience impacting change in an organization through the understanding of change management principles.
  • Experience working with multiple third-party vendors and partners to deliver complex P&C projects.
  • Ability to establish and adhere to strict project timeframes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance priorities among competing needs whilst providing the highest level of value to BDO.
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Financial literacy to forecast and manage project budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and drive other team members, and to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
