Being a Communications and Marketing Manager

What you’ll do:
- Drive strategic communications and marketing, lead innovative campaigns that amplify our fire and rescue service mission and values across our diverse county.
- Crisis communications and reputation management.
- Shaping real-time news media responses during major incidents and other emergencies, ensuring accurate and timely information reaches our customers.
- All done using a calm and measured approach with quick thinking.
- Enhance brand visibility, oversee and evolve our brand presence across all platforms, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
- Engage with customers both inside and outside the organisation, building and maintaining strong relationships with local and regional news media, authorities, and community groups to strengthen our public profile.
- Leading and influencing in content marketing, content creation for digital and traditional media, driving public awareness of fire and other safety initiatives.
- Inspire and mentor, leading a dynamic team, fostering creativity and professional growth in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure research and evaluation is undertaken to ensure external and internal communications and marketing activity is effective and responsive to audience needs.
- Work with the Internal engagement manager to deliver a strategic internal engagement programme to help deliver change management and other major internal issues. Be part of KFRS’ out of hours on-call press officer rota (one week in six), and where required provide additional emergency out of hours cover to assist with significant or major incident statutory communications.
What you’ll bring:
- Degree-level academic or equivalent in Communications and/or Marketing. '
- Extensive experience at a senior level in communications and marketing.
- Extensive leadership and influencing skills from working in complex organisations including working across multiple disciplines and cultures. Ability to think quickly and creatively to drive through fresh and innovative approaches to campaigns, content creation and solutions to drive through communications and marketing strategies. Ability to lead on behaviour change approaches to content and campaigns using the key models to support desired safer living behaviours. Ability to build, sustain and share solid and collaborative professional relationships with relevant groups inside and outside the organisation and across the public, private and social sectors. Ability to take complex information and create clear, creative content and stories relevant to specific audiences both internally and externally, both for online and print.
