Parexel is hiring a Global Therapeutic Area Head, Immunology and Rheumatology, to join our Global Medical Services organization (GMS).

In addition to setting the strategic direction and leading the team, the Immunology and Rheumatology Area Head will provide medical and executive leadership both internally and externally (with clients) in support of Parexels' overall strategy and objectives. This includes delivering medical and scientific expertise to clients and colleagues from other departments in the areas of business development, study design/optimization, and overall development strategies. It also includes building / implementing / presenting credible and tailored cross-functional delivery solutions for drug development in Immunology and Rheumatology. In addition, expectation is that significant portion of time will be spent to directly build and maintain trust with clients. New business awarded in the Immunology and Rheumatology space, talent attraction, development and retention, and customer satisfaction will be key performance metrics.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Lead the Immunology and Rheumatology franchise by inspiring the oncology MD team and more broadly all Parexel stake holders to work at their best, have a sense of urgency and feel proud and privileged to be part of this exciting endeavor to bring more life to patients.
  • Support opportunities by providing medical and scientific direction and training to the proposal team, participating in bid pursuit meetings, establishing status of senior medical leader with customer senior medical leaders and proposal team.
  • Watch and support project / study delivery in Immunology and Rheumatology, anticipate, mitigate, and monitor risks of delays and quality issues, participate in escalation meetings as senior executive.
  • Maintain and develop a strong network in the Immunology and Rheumatology area (Academy, Patient Advocacy Group, and Industry)
  • In coordination with other subject matter experts, advise clients / pharmaceutical companies on drug development strategies and innovations.
  • Identify relevant customers in collaboration with business development team to tailor and present Parexel delivery solutions.
  • Watch the advances in Immunology and Rheumatology and clinical research areas to integrate them in Parexel delivery solutions.
  • Interact and collaborate with senior Parexel leaders in sales, project leadership, clinical operational delivery, data-science, statistics, regulatory, consulting, to build holistic and cross-functional delivery solutions to meet patients' and clients' needs.

Desired skills, experience, and education

  • Sense of urgency, deep commitment, intimate conviction that Parexel has a key role in bringing the best solutions to patients.
  • Specialization in Immunology and Rheumatology area including:
    • Scientific acumen / understand the latest medical innovations in Immunology and Rheumatology / track record of publications and achievements in this area.
    • Immunology and Rheumatology drug development acumen, understand and navigate the diversity and multiplicity of processes, skills and tasks leading to successful development and market access of an asset in Immunology and Rheumatology
    • Understanding of standard of care, patient journey, needs and care / medical degree (preferred)
    • Board certification or senior academic credentials in Immunology and Rheumatology
  • Combination of executive presence / gravitas / humility with the ability 1- to inspire trust to customers / internal and external stakeholders 2- to play a key role in business development in partnership with sales.
  • Leadership to mentor and motivate a global team of medical experts in Immunology and Rheumatology develop one of the strongest MD team in the CRO industry.
  • Established network / name recognition within Academy / Industry / Patient Advocacy Groups in Immunology and Rheumatology
  • Prior Industry experience either/or CRO, Pharma; a leadership position in a clinical institution / hospital / health administration may substitute.
  • Strategic vision in Immunology and Rheumatology/ ability to integrate the complexity of the drug development environment, the data science revolution, the market opportunities, the regulatory / CRO/industry economic model.
  • Executive and corporate leadership, ability to drive and support corporate initiatives and collaborate with other Franchise Heads, senior leaders in the development of a comprehensive GMS strategy and assist with representing the GMS organization to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Business acumen, understand the business & financial model of a CRO.
  • TA related Early phase understanding, and -experience is desired.
  • Domestic and International travel as required by the business.
