We are currently looking for a Bioinformatician to join a leading Pharmaceutical company based for an initial 12 months. As the Bioinformatician you will be responsible for supporting the progression of therapeutic projects at all stages of clinical development, through the analysis of poly-omic data and the application of appropriate advanced data analytical approaches.


The role can offer hybrid working and would expect you to be on site 1-2 days per week (2-3 days p/w for the first few weeks would be useful).



KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Your duties as the Bioinformatician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:


1. As the Bioinformatician you will work with advanced computational techniques, such as operating in a HPC Unix and Linux environments. Experience with DNAnexus and Nextflow would be an advantage.


2. As the Bioinformatician you will be responsible for preparing, supporting and guiding (leadership where relevant) new target identification, target validation, biomarker discovery and patient stratification through the functional interpretation of omics data and knowledge databases.


3. As the Bioinformatician you will prepare, process and interpret data from omics studies across the portfolio while ensuring long term capture of knowledge. You will also have practical experience working with R.


4. As the Bioinformatician you will have a solid understanding of statistics, data mining, and visualization of biological data types. Experience of pre-processing, integration and analysis of different omic data types (e.g. gene expression, SNP, metabolomic, epigenetic data, etc.). Gene expression would be the most essential.



ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Bioinformatician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:


1. Relevant degree in a Bioinformatics related degree (PhD would be preferred).


2. Proven industry experience working as a Bioinformatician within the immunology therapy area would be an advantage, as well as experience with Bulk RNA Sequencing / DNA Sequencing.


3. A working knowledge and practical experience with R programming as well as working within HPC Unix and Linux environments. Experience with DNAnexus and Nextflow would be an advantage.
