£85k plus car allowance and 15% bonus

A top tier residential main contractor are looking for a SQS to be the commercial lead on a £80m 180 unit new build project based on East London.

The project is due to start later this year so it’s the ideal time to start with the scheme in its infancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of, administer and represent the company in commercial and contractual matters.
  • Prepare and implement commercial strategies to align with the business plan
  • Prepare, negotiate and agree on valuations, including generating certificates and invoice/payments
  • Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting subcontractors and finalising subcontractor orders, managing commercial issues to final account completion
  • Manage the process of submission of claims regarding delays, losses and expenses. Succinctly challenge claims and formulate detailed arguments representing relevant parties

The ideal candidate

With at least ten years of quantity surveying experience and having the ability and expertise to manage single or multiple jobs, equate to north of £30 million per annum. The ideal candidate will hold a Quantity Surveying Degree or similar and be able to demonstrate the following skill set:

• Determination to excel within the role and execute responsibilities with due care & diligence, and attention to detail;

• Technically familiar and commercially-aware with an extensive knowledge of construction contracts, materials and products, and labour;

• Ability to understand and question the tender documentation;

• Commercially aware and able to Identify commercial risk & opportunity;

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to liaise with colleagues and clients;
