We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced VAT Focused Accountant to join our finance team at the Dawsongroup Head Office in Milton Keynes.

Purpose of the Job:

The VAT Focused Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, managing VAT returns, and providing expert advice on VAT matters to the organisation. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial integrity and efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting accurate VAT returns for the group.
  • Ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and keeping up to date with changes in VAT laws.
  • Providing VAT advice to various departments within the organisation.
  • Liaising with HMRC on VAT-related issues and handling VAT audits.
  • Conducting regular VAT reconciliations and maintaining detailed records.
  • Identifying opportunities for VAT efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Collaborating with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Providing training and support to staff on VAT-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA or ACCA).
  • Extensive experience in VAT accounting and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of UK VAT legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
