About the Role


Due to continued growth, our client is now looking for a Paralegal to join their award-winning Court of Protection team. Based in Manchester, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your legal career within a nationally recognised team.



The Court of Protection (CoP) department is one of the largest and most diversified in the country, specialising in property and financial affairs. The department has seen remarkable growth where they offer substantial opportunities for career development and progression.



Role & Responsibilities


You will support fee earners with their caseload of property and financial affairs deputyships, performing Grade D or C work based on your experience.



Key responsibilities include:


  • Handling a variety of deputyship cases arising from personal injury, clinical negligence, and other sources.
  • Day-to-day client contact, managing their lifestyle requirements and providing practical advice.
  • Financial planning, managing funds and assets, and arranging care.
  • Collaborating with families, social services, local authorities, care providers, and other professional bodies.
  • Making regular payments to clients and third parties, maintaining accurate income and expenditure records, and creating budgets.



What We’re Looking For:


  • Experience in Court of Protection work is preferred.
  • Candidates from related non-legal backgrounds such as social work, community care, payroll, or accounts are also welcome.




Skills:


  • Commitment to excellent client care and enthusiasm for Court of Protection work.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
  • Strong numeracy and administrative abilities.
  • Effective team working ethic.
