Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Shift times: 7.5 hour shifts between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00

Salary: Up to £54,000 dependent on experience.

We're looking for a Superintendent Mammographer to join our team at The Harborne Hospital. Alongside the mammography department there would be managerial oversight of Plain Film X-ray and Ultrasound.

The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in January 2024. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer, Complex surgery and Orthopaedics. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.

As a Superintendent Mammographer, you'll be joining our hard working Breast Unit team, being the ultimate team player, helping to keep the service running as efficiently as possible. We'll look to you to undertake and perform all Mammography procedures including scanning, screening and assisting in ultrasounds. You will also be required to rotate into another modality, depending on your experience, such as Plain Film or CT, on a fairly regular basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • To manage the day-to-day running of the Breast Imaging Unit in order to provide a professional, efficient and cost-effective unit providing a high standard of diagnostic imaging.
  • Participate in the development of the Imaging department including the strategic and business planning of the mammography service.
  • Provide professional leadership in the Breast Imaging Unit monitoring professional and patient care standards.
  • This will include reviewing staffing levels, skill mixes and working arrangements including use of Workday and Facility Scheduler, reviewing staff training and professional development as well as assisting with annual appraisals.
  • Act as mentor to staff who are undertaking the Post Graduate Mammography Certificate
  • Ensure all staff performing mammography perform sufficient volumes to maintain their skills and competencies and have access to and support from the Superintendent Mammographer.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience - BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or Equivalent
  • Post Grad Certificate in Mammography or equivalent
  • Extensive post qualification experience
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
