Company Description

Formtech Composites provides design, development, and manufacturing services for composite components supporting motorsports, aerospace, defense, medicals and high-end automotive. The company was created in 2008 and has a bespoke knowledge and customer base. The engineering services cover design ( CATIA V ), Finite Elements Analysis ( ALTAIR ) and material characterisations ( INSTRON material testing ). Formtech uses autoclave and heated press processes as the main manufacturing methods. The scope of production varies from prototype to small serial production.


Role Description

This is a full-time Head of Production role located in Greater Oxford Area. The Head of Production will be responsible for developing composite solutions with the engineering team and executing the composites manufacturing on the the shopfloor together with the team of composite technicians to deliver composite parts that meet project and customer requirements.

The Head of Production will lead and actively support the team of composites technician on the shopfloor and utilize state-of-the-art equipment and ensure that the best practise working processes are applied to manufacture composite parts for various high-performance applications, such as aerospace, defense, medicals, and high-end automotive.

Managing the shopfloor operations and provide cost estimating for project quotations. Together with the project engineering team, the Head of |production will develop the required technical documentations and assure the implementation and execution of the defined operations on the shopfloor. Effectively communicate and provide manufacturing expertise to potential customers and for the quotation process for customer projects. The right candidate has a proven experience in the manufacturing of composites.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the composite industry with customer contact into the aerospace, defense, medicals or high-end automotive industry
  • Production Planning, Operations and Team Management skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience in composite materials, manufacturing methods, and processes
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment specific to composite component manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Large Experience with composite manufacturing techniques and the corresponding equipment
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards in composite manufacturing
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in the manufacturing process
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferably



The Compensation depends on the qualification of the candidate and varies between £55,000 to £75,000 p.a. plus an annual bonus depending on the company and individual performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a project from start to finish. This candidate will be able to create a plan of action which will consider a fixed timeline and evaluate risks. This individual should also have experience managing people and be an effective communicator.
