About the Role:

As our Head of Engineering, you'll be one of the first technical hires, playing a pivotal role in shaping our product and engineering culture. You’ll work directly with the founder to build the MARBL platform from the ground up, leading the end-to-end development process while still being heavily hands-on. This is an ideal role for someone who loves the challenge of a "zero-to-one" journey, thrives in ambiguity, and is excited to have a huge impact on the future of the company.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the engineering function at MARBL, from strategy to execution.
  • Work closely with the CEO to define and build the product, setting the technical direction and architecture.
  • Be hands-on in coding, building, and scaling the platform, especially in the early stages.
  • Make key decisions around technology stack, architecture, and product development roadmap.
  • Hire and manage a high-performing engineering team as the company grows.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other teams to deliver features and improve the customer experience.
  • Ensure quality, performance, and security across our systems as we scale.
  • Own the engineering culture, processes, and technical best practices to create an environment where engineers can thrive and do their best work.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Hands-on builder: You love rolling up your sleeves and getting deep into the code, especially in the early days of building a product from scratch.
  • Zero-to-one mindset: You thrive in ambiguous environments and know how to turn an idea into a functioning product.
  • Technical expertise: Strong experience in full-stack development with a deep understanding of system architecture and scaling applications. Ideal frontend skills: Javascript, NextJS, Typescript, Tailwind and Shadcn for UI library, deployment on Vercel. Ideal backend skills: Python.
  • Startup DNA: You’ve worked in startups or fast-paced environments, where you’ve had to wear multiple hats and make high-impact decisions.
  • Leadership: Experience in leading teams or engineering projects, with a desire to grow into a leadership role as we scale.
  • Product-first mentality: You care about user experience and work closely with cross-functional teams to build products that delight customers.
  • Ownership: You take full responsibility for delivering high-quality solutions and are excited by the opportunity to have real ownership and autonomy in your role.
