Role Details
Who are we?

Ki is the biggest global insurance tech company you`ve never heard of, unless you`ve been looking to insure a satellite, wind farm or music festival recently.

Having written over $877m in gross written premium in 2023, we`ve achieved significant growth since our beginnings in 2021. Our investors were excited about the fact we were revolutionising the way a 333 year-old industry was working. There are hardly any industries left that are mainly paper based, but the specialty insurance market is one. Together with partners at Google and UCL we developed Ki and created a platform that helps insurance brokers place risk in a fast and frictionless way. We`re continuing to lead the charge on the digitisation of this market and we need more excellent minds to work with us to realise this goal and create more opportunities.

What you will be working on

Ki operates in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment. We work in an agile way with an execution focus where delivery to timelines is essential. To be a good fit for the team you will be motivated by working in a high-performing team. You should have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and able to work independently and to deadlines. You should be driven and inspired by the prospect of being part of something unique in the industry and have a passion in forward looking risk management practices and technology.

You will be assisting the Operational Risk Manager; together with the wider ERM team, to be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Ki`s risk management framework, policies and practices.

In this role you will support with overseeing, embedding, and enhancing operational risk management, risk culture and change initiatives. Responsibilities will include collaborating with business areas to identify and assess potential risks, propose appropriate remediation activities.

You should have a real desire to support the Risk team in achieving its goals and be interested in the work of the team.

Principal Accountabilities:

Support in the management of the operational risk assessment process and appropriate reporting to management and Board committees.

Assist with identifying, assessing, managing and reporting operational risks in line with the Risk
Management Framework & Policies.

Cooperate with teams for risk event / incident reporting and engage with the business to assess and report on `lessons learned` from risk events and action tracking.

Engage with risk owners and the business to promote risk management and a strong risk culture.

Keep up to date with Risk Management theory and make suggestions for practical application in
Ki as relevant.

Assist in ad hoc risk management training exercises carried out by the Risk Management team.

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

- A willingness to learn and a passion for risk management and technology.
- Excellent organisational, analytical problem-solving skills within a fast paced, agile work environment.
- Strong computer literacy including a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Ability or willingness to learn to communicate actively, effectively and succinctly with strong prioritisation skills.
- An intellectually curious, open minded and entrepreneurial mindset.
- A collaborative working style with a strong team ethic,
- Ability to build and sustain working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Appreciation of the sensitive and confidential nature of workload.

Desired but not Essential:

Previous operational risk management experience gained within the insurance sector is desired, along with any progress towards CII or IRM certification.

Functional background that includes implementing and / or operating risk management frameworks in regulated industries.

Good knowledge of risk management tools and disciplines as well as awareness of the commercial drivers and dynamics affecting risk decisions in the insurance sector.

Our culture

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at Ki. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought and social background bring richness to our working environment. No matter who you are, where you`re from, how you think, or who you love, we believe you should be you.

You`ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals.
