Job Title: Unreal Engineer

About the Company

Catches, a dynamic technology innovator in the fashion and eCommerce sector, has successfully secured pre-seed investment, marking a pivotal moment in our journey. We specialise in revolutionising the fashion industry by integrating advanced 3D rendering, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Visual Effects (VFX) techniques. Collaborating with some of the world's most prestigious brands, Catches is at the forefront of transforming eCommerce into a vibrant 3D digital realm. Our proprietary SAAS platform is designed to offer hyper-realistic cloud rendering, sophisticated VFX, and precise photogrammetry, all working in unison to create unparalleled shopping experiences for luxury fashion and exclusive events.

About the Role

Catches is seeking a skilled Unreal Engine engineer to join our team in pushing Unreal Engine to the limit, using bleeding-edge features to deliver high-quality renders to end users. This role involves working in a variety of disciplines, including developing our scalable cloud rendering solution based on Unreal, creating internal tooling for both technical and creative users, building up automation / CI pipelines and configuring cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience building projects with Unreal Engine as well as making modifications to Unreal Engine itself, primarily working in C++ writing code to extend the engine and build features usable by technical artists via blueprints. This role requires regular interfacing with less / non-technical members of staff, as such we expect strong communication skills and the ability to gather requirements from other areas of the business to inform our development.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the development of a cloud-based rendering solution
  • Optimising both real-time and offline rendering performance in-engine
  • Developing and maintaining CI pipelines to automate the packaging of Unreal projects and assets
  • Working with creatives, gathering requirements and building internal tools to assist with the creation of assets through automation
  • Documenting developed tools and features
  • Creating tests and maintaining test coverage across our stack
  • Providing knowledge to less experienced Unreal users (both technical and non-technical) across the business on best practices, limitations and more
  • Creating and integrating plugins to the engine to enable users across the business

Qualifications:

  • Multiple years of experience with Unreal Engine (UE4 or UE5)
  • Engine tools and systems development experience
  • Experience modifying Unreal Engine source code
  • Strong C++ ability
  • Experience with both Git and Perforce version control
  • Knowledge of API design/consumption
  • Development on both Windows and Linux platforms
