As a Planner you will be responsible for providing pre and post contract planning services and advice to all construction, estimating, surveying departments as well as client representatives in a professional and timely manner. Services will include timeline, resourcing and performance requirements on individual projects. This role requires a dynamic individual who is enthusiastic and keen to make a significant impact in the construction industry.


  • Provide leadership and take responsibility for the planning and production control processes.
  • Communicate a logical sequence of events, ensuring that all programmes are compliant with the project requirements, and are co-created and adopted by the whole construction team.
  • Ensure that the most appropriate economical/advantageous construction solutions are adopted.
  • Analyse performance and provide and maintain progress reports, providing details of likely impact and recommended solutions.
  • Identify and provide key resource requirements.
  • Contribute to accurate preliminary assessment of time resource and performance requirements.
  • Provide and co-ordinate time related information for 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers.
  • Represent the company/project with the main contractor and other stakeholders.
  • Provide expert content for documents and submissions as required.
  • Provide general support to management and project team.
  • Provide support and guidance to planning team members where necessary.
  • Awareness of environmental issues within the construction company environment and the Environmental Manual policy and objectives.
  • Awareness of Occupational Health & Safety issues within the construction company environment and the Byrne Group OH&S policy statement and objectives.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Computer literate – MS Office, including Excel.
  • Working knowledge of planning software (Asta power project).
  • Proven track record in the achievement of objectives, deliverables and meeting deadlines.
  • Well organised, realistic and reliable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and resilient with the ability to operate independently where required.
  • Competent and confident in all technical aspects of planning.
  • Demonstrable experience of a wide range of contracts / work types.
  • Commercially astute and understanding of the construction process.
  • Team player with the ability to flex requirements to meet the needs of the business.
