Quality Manager Personal Care
Looking to escape the UK? Dreaming of a better work life balance, free fitness classes and €2 lunches? Join this Amsterdam-based company as they grow their Quality team.
**Please note this role is based in Amsterdam, you will be required to fully relocate to the Netherlands**
THE COMPANY
An Amsterdam-based supplier of lotions and potions for the body and the home. A non-corporate company, growing and doing very well with some big retail names stocking their products in the UK and EU. Their product range is increasing, and the quality team is growing accordingly to accommodate the new ranges being introduced. The team is headed up by an incredibly lovely Head Of originally from the UK.
Their offices are located in central Amsterdam with excellent public transport links and they provide an onsite restaurant, help-yourself snacks, free parking, a range of fitness classes, and regular social events to help you settle into Amsterdam-life and make new friends. They offer flexibility with a choice of contract (either a 36hr or 40hr working week) and flexible start/finish times plus hybrid working.
THE ROLE
- You will be responsible for delivering the quality strategy for formulated products (personal care items like soaps, perfumes, cosmetics, plus others like home fragrance and essential oils etc) ensuring legal, safe and fit for purpose products are available for customers, with the aim of reducing customer complaints, returns, recalls, and negative customer reviews
- Conduct product risk assessments, technical benchmarking, and user trials to ensure products meet guidelines
- Approve samples, packaging, copy, and relevant documentation in line with the critical path, meeting agreed timescales to deliver products for sale.
- Coordinate with testing houses and suppliers to ensure your products are meeting standards complying with legislation in the EU, and UK
- Evaluate social compliance and environmental requirements for EU and Far East factories
- Organise in line and pre shipment inspections
- Manage technical files
- Analyse returns and agree corrective action plans/improvements
- Provide advice and support to buying and customer service teams
- Manage a Junior Technologist
ABOUT YOU
You will have demonstrable experience of working in a Quality-focused role. As their product range is quite wide, any experience within beauty, cosmetics, personal care, crafts, DIY, toys, paints, or similar areas falling under REACH would be great. The scope of the role can be adapted according to your experience so you could already be working as an established Quality Manager, Technical Manager or be a Senior QA Technologist, QA Technologist, Product Technologist or similar looking to step up. Your experience could have come from retail head office, supplier, or manufacturing/lab environment. You’ll manage an Assistant Technologist in this role, so if you’ve got some people management experience that would be handy but if you don’t and you’re keen to learn, the Head of Quality is more than happy to coach you and help you develop these skills.
THE REWARD
In addition to a base salary that is negotiable depending on experience level and an annual bonus, the company also offers flexibility with working hours through both a choice of contract (either a 36hr or 40hr working week) and flexible start/finish times plus hybrid working. In terms of your personal growth and career development, the Head of Quality is particularly passionate about learning and development and putting together personalised coaching programs that they will work through with you to help you reach your goals.
As a wider business there’s a big focus on the wellbeing of the teams and they provide a subsidised onsite restaurant (€2 lunches? Yes please.), help-yourself snacks, complimentary onsite beauty treatments, free parking, fitness classes and regular social events (great if you’re relocating and keen to make new friends). They also run charity initiatives and volunteering days you can choose to get involved with too. Ultimately, they’re a very people-focused business.
