MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a leading consumer goods business, on the search for a Senior E-commerce Manager. This is a permanent position based in North East England.


The Senior Ecommerce Manager role is pivotal in driving the digital presence of the business, optimizing e-commerce platforms and ensuring seamless customer experiences. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, strategically minded, and capable of leading cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the operation and optimization of our e-commerce website to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Oversee website performance and implement strategies to enhance functionality and user engagement.
  • Drive digital marketing efforts focusing on innovative strategies to attract and retain customers.
  • Utilise your expertise in digital marketing to improve traffic acquisition, conversion, and sales.
  • Ensure a positive and seamless customer experience on all marketplace platforms.
  • Work with outsourced developers to maintain technical excellence and high-quality deliverables.
  • Identify and execute strategies to boost online trading performance.
  • Collaborate with product teams to understand product potential, pricing strategies, and effective marketing approaches.
  • Manage all online activities related to traffic acquisition, sales, and conversion.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activities to enhance website performance.
  • Utilise data analytics tools to track key performance indicators.
  • Generate insights from data to drive informed decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Develop a content calendar and oversee website content updates, including product uploads and landing pages.
  • Ensure high-quality content that drives engagement and conversions.
  • Regularly report on website and sales performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and optimize our presence on online marketplaces to maximize reach and profitability.
  • Oversee technical and on-page SEO efforts.
  • Manage and optimize paid media campaigns to drive traffic and sales.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to boost brand awareness and engagement.
  • Create and schedule content, monitor performance, and interact with the online community.
  • Ensure a seamless customer experience across all sales channels.
  • Integrate online and offline sales strategies to optimize the omni-channel model.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and logistics, to align strategies and goals.
  • Collaborate with third-party partners and vendors to optimise processes and relationships.


What are we looking for?


  • 3-5 years’ operating at a similar level in online retail.
  • Proven experience in driving online performance through clear strategy and execution.
  • Confident user of Shopify and other CMS platforms.
  • Experience in digital marketing and e-commerce (5 years preferred), managing social media platforms and strategies.
  • Experience with omni-channel retail models.
  • Strong data analysis skills, specifically related to web traffic and conversion.
  • Entrepreneurial, creative, and commercial mindset.
  • Expertise in website optimisation and SEO.
  • Strong understanding of paid media, particularly paid search.
  • Experience managing online marketplaces.
  • Ability to thrive in small, close-knit teams and make quick decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for content creation and community engagement.
  • Strong understanding of omni-channel strategies and execution.
