The Finance team within this organization is responsible for comprehensive financial management and governance across a major contract. This includes internal and external financial planning and analysis (FP&A), customer interaction, business partnering, audit management, project management office (PMO) oversight, and program governance. The team's responsibilities span multiple business units making the role both unique and complex.
As a Business Partner to the Service Management & Customer Experience Director, this role is crucial in driving business unit growth by providing analytical and commercial support for projects and bids, as well as managing billing and revenue recognition. Success in this position requires a strong focus on FP&A, risk and control management, and customer interactions.
With a commercial focus, this role delivers accurate and timely reporting, forecasts, and insights to stakeholders and the senior leadership team. The role also provides financial leadership with a particular emphasis on revenue and margin growth, ensuring that opportunities are correctly billed and recognized.
Given its significant customer-facing responsibilities, this role is essential in aligning business and customer needs, particularly during a critical phase of growth and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Stewardship: Partner with the Business Development team to support opportunities while ensuring business accountability for commitments. Drive financial outcomes, including profit and loss (P&L), capital expenditure (Capex), billing, and debt management.
- Contractual Expertise: Apply a deep understanding of contractual mechanisms to financials, acting as a trusted advisor to commercial and technical teams, while also managing risk and control responsibilities.
- Financial Reporting: Deliver performance-related financial reporting, including monthly FP&A and annual budgeting, with a focus on the entire lead-to-cash process.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain senior-level relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure fair value returns.
- Strategic Support: Assist in the development and execution of the unit’s strategy, providing insights and reports aligned with the FP&A strategy. Promote innovative ideas and opportunities within the team.
Required Skills
- Strong Communication: Utilize various techniques to effectively engage and influence stakeholders, ensuring clear and impactful communication. Recognized as a key team player and partner.
- Data Analytics: Identify opportunities to leverage data analytics for better decision-making. Drive process, systems, or tool enhancements to improve data analytics capabilities.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve finance processes and systems, anticipating and addressing obstacles, and facilitating collaboration between teams with a strong attention to detail.
- Accounting Principles: Apply accounting principles, procedures, and systems in complex scenarios, including contract accounting. Provide expertise and oversight to ensure accuracy.
- Financial Analysis and Insights: Coach others and stay informed on changes in economic and financial practices, ensuring accurate application of these principles.
