Bell is recruiting a dedicated Deputy Head of Young Learners to join our team in Cambridge. In this key role, you will project manage Bell Young Learner programmes with direct responsibility and oversight of two of our Young Learner (YL) summer centres. Along with the Head of Young Learners, you will ensure the delivery of our programmes meets the satisfaction of our clients and lead the safeguarding of children studying across all Bell YL programmes.

This is a permanent role based from our Cambridge office 3 days per week and working from home can be offered two days per week outside of peak periods. During peak periods, flexibility will be required and travel to our summer centers will be necessary.


Salary: £40,000 per annum


Responsibilities:

- Project manage any YL programmes and courses assigned, including full ownership of at least two summer school projects.

- Assist the Head of YL in leading and managing the Operations and Recruitment Coordinators and the onsite young learner staff.

- Work with the Head of YL and liaise with the sales team to ensure effective and efficient capacity management.

- Maintain effective communications and proactively manage relations with host school liaison officers.

- Lead on student welfare policy and procedures, ensuring the highest level of care is provided to all students visiting Bell YL centres.

- Review and develop the induction and training procedures of welfare staff across all Bell YL centres.

- Liaise with IT to ensure the team has the right level of technical support and resources to grow and contract with seasonal requirements, and to develop improved student administration procedures.

- Ensure rigorous incident reporting from YL centres and ensure appropriate follow-up action.

- Deputise for the Head of YL when required, providing guidance and advice on operational matters vital to the smooth running of Bell YL centres and programmes.

- Be on call to give guidance to any of the team.

- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer and ensure appropriate safeguarding provision and compliance if/when necessary.

- Conduct site visits to support, monitor, evaluate, quality control, review, and develop programmes.

- Represent the department and Bell at internal and external meetings and conferences.

- Review student and staff feedback and make recommendations for improvements and developments.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing educational programmes and a strong background in student welfare and safeguarding. You should possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team. Strong organisational and project management skills are essential, along with the flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of the role. A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of student care and satisfaction is paramount. The successful candidate will also have the ability to represent Bell professionally at all levels and have a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

As you will be visiting our Young Learner sites on a regular basis, a driving licence and car is an essential requirement for this role.
