As the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Team, you will lead and develop a skilled team of engineers, overseeing mechanical design, product updates, and development activities. You will also drive the implementation of the new 3DX/PLM system, ensuring that our processes are aligned across global teams and adhere to strict quality standards. This role is crucial in supporting our mission to deliver reliable, innovative products that exceed customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and supervise the Mechanical Engineering and Product Change Control teams, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of designs and products.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of engineering drawings, CAD models, PDM, and change control systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical design, performance, and system reliability.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align the team's strategic vision with the company's business goals.
  • Manage the design and development of products, including mechanical, thermal, environmental, and manufacturing aspects.
  • Support product certification under relevant standards and contribute to the design of production line jigs, fixtures, and test stations.
  • Lead the new 3DX/PLM implementation, ensuring alignment with global teams and processes.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications:


  • Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical and/or Production Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in product design and development, with expertise in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of implementing document management and change management systems, ideally 3DX/PLM.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within an engineering team.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety standards (e.g., BSEN 61010) and design tools (e.g., FEA, injection moulding, stress analysis).
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Results-focused, with a business-led approach to achieving goals.
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively across different teams and disciplines.
  • A proactive problem-solver who embraces change and continuous improvement.
