Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an interior fit-out business near Sheffield to help them recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator.


Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor with estimating experience. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing costs for projects, from the initial estimate to project completion. Working closely with the project and design teams, you will be responsible for accurately assessing, budgeting, and reporting on all financial aspects of interior fit-out projects, ensuring that costs are optimized without compromising on quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed estimates, cost plans, and budgets for interior fit-out projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and measurement of materials and labor to inform budgetary and procurement decisions.
  • Liaise with project teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers to evaluate and negotiate costs and contracts.
  • Analyze project specifications and design documents to provide accurate pricing, ensuring that cost projections meet client budgets.
  • Oversee procurement activities, evaluating suppliers and subcontractor quotes to ensure value for money.
  • Manage project cost control throughout the lifecycle, identifying potential savings and adjusting budgets accordingly.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and ensure work aligns with financial estimates and specifications.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, including forecasts, cash flows, and risk analysis.
  • Monitor and report on project financial status, adjusting estimates as needed and advising on cost implications of any changes.
  • Provide support on tenders and ensure that all documentation is complete and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist with final accounts and valuations, including variations, ensuring all costs are accounted for and reconciled.


Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying, ideally within the interior fit-out sector.
  • Strong estimating experience, with a sound understanding of cost planning and control.
  • Proficient in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and work to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices within the construction industry.
