Consultant CPU Specialist

We are looking for a specialist to help us scope out servicing our restaurants from a CPU. Currently we outsource a lot of the prep to suppliers, however, we want to consider bringing this in-house into a CPU to improve consistency and quality in the short-term and improve profitability in the long-term.

We need help to understand the space, facilities, equipment, personnel and distribution required for our CPU.

We have listed all processes we aim to put into the CPU including prepping vegetables and fruit, making and bottling juices, marinating meat, cold assembly sauces and batches, bakery, and packing for retail .

We need to understand the investment required to open a CPU to service our 14 sites in London by the end of 2024, and also understand how we can increase capacity as we grow. This specialist will also be able to advise us on food safety regulations and any accreditation requirements. In addition, they will have experience with production machinery and equipment, and can advise on this.


We’d like someone to work on this full time for one month, or part-time for 3 months maximum (minimum 2 days per week).


About Farmer J


Farmer J is a fast casual restaurant group in London with 11 sites currently, 3 further openings by the end of 2024, and more planned for 2025. Open from dawn to dusk serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, speciality coffee and snacks. Our customers can grab-and-go, dine in, Click & Collect or order online for delivery.


Farmer J believes that the only way to make nutritious, honestly prepared food, is by cooking it ourselves. Our team prepares real food on site in open kitchens every day. Customers can see the smoking grill, watch trays of food coming in and out of the ovens, and salads being chopped and assembled right in front of them. In store customers build their fieldtrays from the vibrant, colourful counter of food. At the heart of the concept is the fieldtray – which includes a base, a bold-flavoured main, and 2 seasonal sides (punchy roasted veg or salads). Fieldtrays are totally customisable and packaged for on-the-go eating and deliveries.

Farmer J give a fork, from what’s in our food, to where it comes from, to how it is prepared and how it is served. We want to deliver the “wow” factor, boldly but humbly in everything we do. We are looking for someone to join our growing head office team to manage food quality standards.
