Fleet Mechanic

You have a strong educational background and hold a Level 3 NVQ in Light Motor Mechanics or a similar qualification. HGV level 2 maintenance and repair or level 3 plant equipment qualifications are desirable. A Class B driving license is essential, with additional categories considered desirable. You are experienced in supervising apprentices or willing to develop this skill. Relevant Health and Safety qualifications are necessary, and you understand its application in the work environment.

You possess knowledge of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 in relation to fleet maintenance. You can assess, test, and safely repair Electrical Vehicles or are willing to develop these skills. Proficiency in diagnosing and fixing faults using diagnostic equipment is essential. You are skilled in using various hand and power tools and understand electrical testing within current regulations.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are crucial. You are motivated, possess a can-do attitude, and are committed to providing a professional and timely service. You must provide your own comprehensive tool kit and be prepared to work in all weather conditions. The ability to communicate in English is essential, while Welsh language skills are desirable.

The role involves maintaining, servicing, and repairing fleet vehicles, plant, and equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations, Health and Safety requirements, and Ministry of Transport Regulations. You will maintain documentation and electronic systems and ensure the compliance of workshops with Health and Safety Legislation.

Timely maintenance and operational compliance of vehicles are essential to meet the demands of CCBC departments. Liaison with other departments to ensure optimal service delivery is required. You will conduct periodic maintenance, assess accident damage, and advise on repairs.

The role includes parts ordering, fitting, testing, and pre-MOT assessments. Testing, assessing, and repairing Electrical Vehicles safely are also part of the duties. You will support roadside recovery and work with fleet management to ensure cost-effective repairs.

Providing technical information, diagnostic investigations, and recommendations are critical aspects of the job. Establishing and maintaining good working relationships, both internally and externally, and providing excellent customer service is part of your responsibilities.
