Qualifications:



Staff working as a tutor for Training in Care are required to be qualified in the subject matter, they

teach to 1 grade above the qualification. TIC require this as we deliver vocational qualifications in an

area where people are vulnerable and to adults who may understand the topic if the questions are

broken down comprehensively.

A PGCE, Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or higher is required for delivery of courses.

Occupational experience is also required.


Responsibilities:


  • Planning and preparing lessons.
  • Teaching across a range of qualification types and levels, in day or evening classes or open access workshops.
  • Researching and developing new topics, courses and teaching materials, including online resources.
  • Teaching large and small groups of learners from a range of backgrounds, abilities and ages.
  • Monitoring, assessing and marking students' work; giving appropriate feedback, maintaining accurate records and monitoring students' progress.
  • Carrying out a pastoral role as a personal tutor to students.
  • Conducting tutorials on a one-to-one basis with learners where necessary.
  • Planning additional support for students, as necessary.
  • Contributing to course team meetings to monitor, review and evaluate relevant courses.
  • Representing the business at taster days, open days and careers or education events
  • Liaising with other educational professionals and organisations.
  • Organising work experience and carrying out learner assessments in the workplace, as appropriate.
  • Preparing students for qualifications and external examinations.
  • Managing student behaviour in the classroom and on social media and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour.
  • Collecting and collating the evidence needed to submit learner support claims.
  • Working with a small group or individual to consolidate skills.
  • Working as above to support differentiation of class work.
  • Teaching cooperatively.
  • Spelling support.
  • 1 to 1 support for some learners when required.
  • Motivating and encouraging learners.
  • Stretching and challenging learners.
  • Assisting with marking and correcting work.
  • Attending meetings and reviews.
  • Discussing the aims of the session with learners.
  • Supporting learners inside the classroom.
  • Agreeing and writing action plans.
  • Helping learners to increase their confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies.
  • Supporting learners to complete Personal Learning Plans with detailed aims, reflections and evidence.
  • Collating evidence of learning for learner’s portfolio.
  • Scribe for learners.
  • Capturing evidence in group discussions.
  • Simplify questions to learners.
  • Recruitment to courses.
