Job Description:
As a Kitchen Operative specialising in bulk cooking and production, you will be at the heart of our kitchen operations. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking large quantities of food, ensuring consistency and quality in every batch. Your role will involve working closely with our team to manage the entire cooking process, from ingredient preparation to final presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bulk Cooking: Take a hands-on role in cooking large batches of food according to standardised recipes, ensuring consistency, taste, and quality.
- Ingredient Preparation: Prepare large volumes of ingredients, including washing, chopping, and measuring, to support the cooking process.
- Recipe Execution: Follow detailed cooking procedures and recipes to produce meals that meet our high standards of flavour and presentation.
- Quality Control: Continuously monitor the cooking process, making adjustments as needed to maintain the desired quality.
- Portioning and Packaging: Portion cooked food into appropriate containers, ensuring accurate and efficient packaging for distribution.
- Kitchen Operations: Operate and maintain kitchen equipment used in bulk cooking, including ovens, mixers, and industrial-sized pots and pans.
- Sanitation and Cleanliness: Ensure the kitchen remains clean and organised at all times, following strict hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Stock Management: Assist in managing inventory, ensuring that all ingredients are available and properly stored.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all food safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or bulk cooking environment is highly preferred.
- Strong cooking skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume kitchen.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (certification is desired).
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of a busy kitchen environment.
