Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Great Baddow. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: Up to £58,000 dependent on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing software applications through all stages of the software lifecycle
- Producing software documentation, technical reports, presentations, and providing software estimates
- Maintaining a good working knowledge of applicable software processes and standards to ensure software product quality and safety
- Keeping abreast of developments in the wider software industry
- Coaching, mentoring and assisting others in the software team
Your skills and experiences:
- BEng/BSc in Computer Science or other relevant Engineering or Numerate subject (technology, engineering or science related discipline)
- CEng or equivalent level of capability, or working towards CEng status
- Have considerable experience of using at least one high level programming language e.g. Ada95, C/C++ or C#
- Have considerable experience of using a high-level design methodology (e.g. UML)

The Naval Radar Software Products team:
The Naval Radar Software Products Team develop, maintain, and provide capability upgrades for the cutting-edge naval radar systems of the Royal Navy and overseas defence forces. The successful applicant will be part of our 70 strong software team, within the Product & Training Services area of BAE Systems Maritime Services, responsible for developing the software applications that drive complex naval radar systems on multiple platforms. We are looking for you to be keen to progress your career within the defence industry, and for you to constantly seek to expand and broaden your knowledge. You’ll ideally have a natural interest in the industry and be able to grasp new concepts and technologies quickly.
