We are looking for an organised individual to join Talbots as Operations Manager for our Dispute Resolutions Department. To be successful, you will have previous experience of the legal environment with excellent knowledge of internal procedure and operations.


The Operations Manager team will be expected to take on the non-legal day-to-day management of the department under the leadership of the Head of Department as well as managing all the administrative functions for the department.

What the job involves;

  • Process reviews within the department, applying an innovative mind-set to identify ways of working improvement.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to help build the budget target, as well as any forecast changes, monitoring and consolidation of individual staff targets, forecasting and billing.
  • Act as point of contact for HR, training, marketing and compliance concluding and influencing any relevant topics, such as recruitment, onboarding, social media, learning and development and complaints.
  • Ensure department wide compliance with SRA, Lexcel, Law Society Quality Scheme standards, SARs and accounting requirements.


What you need:

  • Previous employment in a legal environment and a good understanding of the internal procedures and operations in a regional law firm.
  • Excellent administrative, planning and organisation skills including diary management to succeed in meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sensitivity, tact and diplomacy as well as versatile communication proficiency.
  • Competent in a variety of computer systems, including MS Office applications and Case Management Systems.
  • Hold a UK Driving Licence and own transport, as occasional travel to Talbots’ offices is required.
