Purpose of Role:


  • Our client is a leading automotive and mobility organisation looking for a Public Affairs and Stakeholder Manager reporting to the Head of Public Affairs within the Corporate Affairs function.
  • The successful candidate will focus on developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including politicians, industry and disability advocacy groups. You will represent our client within these groups, push our messaging and try to influence their behaviours in terms of how they relate to our client’s business.
  • The organisation is a fantastic place to work with plenty of opportunities for career development, the previous role holder was promoted internally.
  • Within the organisation the Public Affairs function is still relatively new and growing, so there is an opportunity for the successful candidate to play an important part in shaping the public affairs strategy.


Duties include:


  • Planning and delivering the public affairs and engagement plan with stakeholders across political, membership, think tank, industry and advocacy groups.
  • Representing the organisation at a range of industry events.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the organisation and the environment in which it operates, providing advice on policy to the wider corporate affairs team as well as keeping them informed of the latest developments across the automotive and mobility sectors.
  • Support with the development of key messages and the methods of communicating these messages, for example speeches, corporate presentations and articles from the senior leadership team.
  • Work with retained public affairs agencies.
  • Support the events team on planning coordination of and execution of events.
  • Work with other teams across the organisation including on joint public affairs plans.


Candidate specifics:


  • Experience in public affairs and stakeholder engagement is essential.
  • The successful candidate will have a track record of building and managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • You will have an understanding of, and preferably experience in, the Automotive/Mobility Sector.
  • The idea candidate will be a strong communicator with experience representing organisations to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of organising events, both digital and in person including meetings is an advantage.
  • You will be able to quickly become familiar with the aims and objectives of the organisation and its place in the wider automotive and mobility industry. You will be able to communicate these aims and objectives to both external and internal audiences.
  • This is a busy role and requires a highly motivated candidate who is comfortable taking responsibility for the delivery of sections of the organisation’s public affairs and stakeholder engagement plan. You must be comfortable with travel and managing your diary accordingly.
  • You will also be open to new ways of doing things and be able to adapt to new methods of working. Being able to embrace the test and learn approach, alongside an ability to find the most efficient way of doing things, will help ensure you are successful in this role.


Minimum criteria:


  • Direct experience of Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement
  • An interest in and understanding of issues related to the automotive/mobility sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate and work with all levels with external stakeholders and within the organisation.
  • A positive team player with a professional approach and “can do” attitude.
